15 Bed Wetting Solutions
When your child uses a potty or toilet for bladder and bowel functions during waking hours you can consider their toilet training complete. Nighttime dryness is a natural, biological process you have no control over. That being said, nighttime bedwetting can be frustrating. Here are some tips on how to deal with bed wetting:
1. Remember that nighttime dryness is out of your child’s control. Physiological development happens naturally.
2. Do not use punishment.
3. Have spare pajamas and bedding at hand.
4. Try not to be too grumpy when your child wakes you in the night for your assistance. Instead praise her for realizing that she needed to go.
5. Encourage your tot to drink more fluids during the day and limit intake within 2 hours of bedtime.
6. Make a couple of toilet stops before bedtime.
7. Make a toilet stop immediately upon waking in the morning.
8.Use a mattress protector.
9. Stay relaxed. Stressing out your child will not change the situation.
10. Try putting your child in real knickers rather than pullups. If this does not work, go back to diapers until they are properly dry.
11. Keep a night light on so that your child can see the way to the bathroom.
12. Keep a potty in your child’s room so that she does not have as far to go.
13. Use positive reinforcement. A sticker chart with a fantastic reward may do the trick.
14. Be consistent during the day. Get your tot to use the potty every 2 hours during the day, in addition to when they are holding their crotch or squirming around.
15. Visit the doctor to rule out urinary tract infections.
